This stylish antique black cast iron and beam scale by Howe is a wonderful functional piece of 19th century equipment. It has an unusual fish shaped base, stylish beam with weight and there is no platform. The various types of mercantile counter balance scales were used to measure amounts of candy, seed, grain, and pharmaceuticals. This scale is in working condition but I did not check the precision. The numbers are still readable. It measures about 17″ long, 7″ wide and about 7″ tall. BUY
