A color collotype reproduction after the original 18th-century oil painting by English portrait painter Arthur William Devis (1762 – 1822), titled Master Simpson. The image depicts a young blue-eyed boy, sporting a wild head of curly blond hair, standing patiently in a picturesque flower garden while holding his squirming white pup. A top hat lay on its side behind the duo, an endearing clue that perhaps the hat was once on the boy’s head, but fell to its destiny during an unknown commotion the artist left to the imagination. The print is mounted on a very nice vintage frame. A label to the verso reads ” ’Master Simpson” by A. W. Devis. It measures about 21″ wide and about 25″ high. BUY
